Author's Note

Homo Sapiens arose from a network of hominid species that criss-crossed Africa for millions of years.

Some 74,000 years ago, the Toba volcanic eruption initiated a global, ecological disaster that brought about the near extinction of our species.

Out of this genetic bottleneck, amongst the fertile coastlines, plains and valleys across the vast, southern portion of the continent, humans began to flourish; eventually migrated north and in time, conquered the entire planet.

This is the story of Eku, a young boy destined to lead the progenitor tribe further north, the first leader of the first humans to spread outward.

The ancestors of everyone alive today.
